Infection Prevention & Control Supervisor

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and ensure compliance of Infection prevention and control manual based on CDC guidelines.
Conducts regular surveillance of prospective infectious diseases admitted in the facility; collect data, tabulates and interprets collected data; conducts anti-biogram studies and submits reports to the Infection Control Officer. Identify, investigate, and monitor infections which could pose health risks to patients/ attendants & staff; recommend measures for prevention & control.
Conduct trainings in collaboration with CNI for staff, monitor an evaluate their performance to identify area of improvement, inform deviation from compliance to relevant HoD
Conduct ward rounds, teach other clinical members and patients regarding control and prevention measures, maintaining accurate patient clinical records. Collects data-pertaining to c/s reports from microbiology department, Admission from home, other healthcare facility, Surgery, Culture sample and reports, Invasive procedures, Keeps track of all patient with, Intravascular catheters, Urinary catheters, Medical/surgical wounds, Instrumentation of respiratory tract (ET tubes, tracheotomy tubes), bed sores, pressure ulcers, droplet infection, air borne infections etc.
Co-ordinates between different departments and the hospitals. Following data is then analysed and interpreted together with the microbiologist (microbiology department in turn maintains patient wise, department wise and data wise record of the culture and sensitivity report) to establish, an antibiotic susceptibility pattern, rate of infection and the number of isolates grown, intravenous line related infections, wound sepsis rates, urinary tract infection rates and respiratory tract infection rates
Liaises with proper authority on issues affecting hospital personnel and notifies HoD Nursing and virologist of reported cases of communicable diseases.
